Bratislava, March 26 (TASR) - Chief of the Slovak Armed Forces General Staff Lubomir Bulik appreciates Slovak-Hungarian military co-operation, referring to the both countries' soldiers jointly taking part in within UN's UNFICYP mission in Cyprus. Bulik attended their joint muster in Hungary on Friday.
Slovakia currently has military staff of 196, including eight women, in Cyprus. With their Hungarian colleagues, staffed 53, they perform tasks in the so-called Sector 4. "There are also four Croatian lieutenants with us, and there are certain plans to beef it up with Ukrainian soldiers, too. At the moment, participation of Serbians is also being discussed," said Bulik.
UNFICYP mission is a successful one, asserts Bulik. "Despite some long-term problems I can say our soldiers are professionals with very good credits," said Bulik.
Earlier this month, members of the Slovak-Hungarian contingent within UN's UNFICYP mission in Cyprus were presented with a joint Slovak-Hungarian award called "Good Neighbourhood and Understanding" by Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak and his Hungarian counterpart Peter Balazs in Budapest.
